Runners get ready to go the distance and test your stamina at the Inaugural Westchester Marathon and Half Marathon, to be held on the scenic Bronx River Parkway, October 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is now open to runners.
“This is an exciting event for Westchester which will bring runners from across the northeast to our historic linear park and parkway – it is the perfect location for a marathon” said County Executive Andy Spano. “It promises to be a challenging run and I encourage all runners and running enthusiasts to take part in the marathon as a sport and to experience the beauty the Bronx River Parkway and Reservation have to offer.”
Organized by Genesis Adventures of Southbury, Connecticut, the 26.2-mile marathon and 13.1-mile half-marathon will start at the Westchester County Center in White Plains and proceed south along the Bronx River Parkway to Scarsdale Road. The half-marathon will end at the County Center while the full-marathon will continue for a second loop. The Marathon is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. The parkway will close to vehicular traffic for the event.
Early registration is now open for the full marathon at $75 per person and $45 for the half-marathon for those registering prior to May 31.
Fees will increase to $80 and $50 after May 31 and to $85 and $55 on September 1. Corporate team registration is available for the half-marathon and walkers are welcome to participate in the half-marathon.
