Grant Writing Basics has been designed for the novice grant writer and those who wish to brush up their grant writing skills. Join us for an extremely valuable session that will take you step by step in procuring grant funding.

Topics covered will include:

· where to go for a grant

· how corporate sponsorship differs from a corporate grant

· donor research and prospect lists

· components of a full proposal

· techniques for organizing a proposal

· project & operating budgets (including indirect rates)

· developing and maintaining relationships with funders

Attention will also be paid to how artists’ proposals and research differ from arts organizations’, including writing an effective artist statement.

Waddy Thompson is the Director of External Affairs for the New York Foundation for the Arts and author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Grant Writing”. He has previously raised funds for Poets & Writers, Whitney Museum of American Art, Second Stage Theatre, and the American Music Center.
