One in the Same?

July 15, 2005

Bill Rooney has shown such interest in activities of the past Village Board and I've long been curious to meet him.

I've never seen him, he's never met any of the previous board members to whom he refers, he's never spoken to any of us, and never offered any positive suggestions. He's never attended a Planning Board, Village Board or Comprehensive Plan Committee meeting to my knowledge.

He's expressed such passion about his impressions and conclusions about Metro Enviro activities that one might expect him to attend an occasional important meeting in person so he could contribute to the results.

Since he claims to be knowledgeable about the issues, where could he get his information? His opinions and his writing style are so close to those of his roommate and "long-time companion", Maria Cudequest, it might make one suspect they are one and the same author.

Strange in such a small town that we've never bumped into each other.

Ms. Grant:

Unfortunately to live in Croton and pay its ever-escalating taxes, one must work very long days indeed. Thanks to the miracle of videotape, the village website, and the Gazette, it is possible to remain informed nevertheless. I shall be happy, however, to provide you with copies of numerous email exchanges between myself and various members of the board over the course of the last seven years, letters to the editor, etc.

All that said, your assertion that we have never met is actually incorrect. I was with Maria Cudequest in the village parking lot when you encouraged her to attend board meetings back in the spring of 1998 because after all, “the village needs people to participate in government”.

Apparently that was so only if they accepted the administration’s position on Metro Enviro.
