Not being one to shy away from unsolicited opinions - I submit the following comments with my sincere thanks to the editorial staff at Crotonblog. The post on July 28, 2005 is excellent, well-thought out and filled with reason and sanity as we continue to wrestle with the on-going issues and decisions embroiled in the Metro Enviro saga.
The article clearly outlines the problems faced from the early 1960's to the advent of Metro Enviro LLC in 1998 and on-going today with Allied Waste.
In my humble opinion, there is no way even after protracted lawsuits and tremendous amounts of taxpayers money being spent to enforce closure of this or some other type of even more undesirable operations, that the village can come out ahead. It will only be through reasonable negotiation and not enormously costly and protracted lawsuits.
I take no pleasure, personally, in thinking of the pain the new administration will have to endure as they wrestle with these upcoming solutions. I know only too well the sleepless nights they'll put in before this is over. This village is dear to all of us and we need to work together to protect its present and future.
I sincerely and publicly extend my prayers and very best wishes for the new board to succeed. Thank you Crotonblog!
