Police Blotter - Week of August 8th

August 16, 2005

August 7

4:20 PM: The park ranger reported a disorderly group near Mayo’s Landing and requested that the group leave the area without incident.

4:25 PM: There was a report of a brush fire near the west yard area of the Metro North property. Patrols and Fire Department responded and discovered that Metro North personnel had been cutting some equipment, which caused the fire. Fire Department assisted in safely extinguishing the burning materials.

7:16 PM: Patrols arrested a 23-year-old Putnam Valley resident on charges of Harassment 2nd degree. The individual was released on $200 bail and is due in Village court on August 10, 2005 at 9:30 AM.

7:17 PM: There was a report of a boat in distress off Croton Point Park in the Hudson River. Patrols went to check the area and found county apparatus was already at the scene assisting the craft.

August 8

9:21 PM: There was a report from a resident of Truesdale Drive of an egg thrown at a window. Patrols responded and found no damages as a result. The matter is under investigation.

9:31 PM: There was a report from another resident of Truesdale Drive of an egg thrown at their car. Patrols responded and found no damages as a result. The matter is under investigation.

August 9

7:44 AM: A resident of Mohegan Lake reported that during the night while her car was parked in the Skyview Nursing Home parking lot, someone entered her unlocked Honda and stole her CD player. The matter is under investigation.

12:53 PM: There was a report from a resident of Wells Avenue that sometime overnight someone had entered their unlocked vehicle and ransacked its contents. There was nothing reported stolen. The matter is under investigation.

August 10

7:11 AM: There was a report of an injured deer on Loundsbury Road. Patrol responded to destroy the deer and subsequently call the DPW to remove its remains.

8:25 AM: The school custodian from CET reported that sometime overnight that letters to the building and other damages in the front of the building had occurred. Patrol responded and confirmed damages. The matter is under investigation.

4:42 PM: There was a report of a sick raccoon on Beekman Avenue. Patrol responded to destroy the animal and remove its remains from the resident’s property.

August 12

2:30 PM: The was a report of a snake on the path near the pavilion in Silver Lake Park. Patrols responded and found that the snake had slithered away or was GOA (gone on arrival).

August 13

3:56 PM: There was a report from a resident of Maple Street that there was a smoking electrical outlet in their home. Patrol and Fire Department responded and mutually assisted in containing the situation.

4:20 PM: There were numerous calls of an explosion and fire resulting from a transformer malfunction on Grand Street. Patrol and Fire Department responded to secure the area, extinguish the blaze until Con Edison arrived to fix the equipment. A nearby parked also sustained some damage from a downed burning wire.

6:30 PM: The was a report of a fallen tree blocking part of Batten Road. DPW responded and cleared the debris.

9:00 PM: A resident of Ossining reported that while her vehicle was parked on Nordica Drive near Mayo’s Landing, two windows were broken on her car. In addition, personal belongings were stolen. The matter is under investigation.

10:33 PM: There was a report from a resident of Old Post North about downed wires crossing the road. Patrol and DPW responded and secured the area until Con Edison arrived to repair the wires.

August 14

5:29 PM: The Park Ranger reported that there was a disorderly group from the Bronx at Silver Lake Park. Park Ranger had the group clear the area without incident.

August 15

6:04 PM: On North Riverside, Patrols responded to a report of a car leaving the scene of an accident. Patrol responded and subsequently arrested a 36-year-old North Salem man for DWI and other traffic infractions. The individual was later released on $250 bail and is due back in Village court on August 17, 2005 at 9:30 AM.

August 16

2:18 AM: There was a report of a disorderly group yelling on Benedict Blvd. during a party. Patrol responded and asked the group to quiet down.
