Chalk Cinema
Arrive early for “Screening Under the Stars” and create your own masterpiece in chalk during Art in the Park on Thursday, August 25 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
A sidewalk chalk art contest for all ages will take place before the last “Screening Under the Stars” movie, Back to the Future. Kids can start at the “Creation Station” – where they can register their name, and age and be assigned a specific square in the park to “chalk.” Artists are asked to illustrate their designated square with their favorite experience of the past summer.
Squares will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. All materials will be provided.
Children six and under will have a chance to win the “Itsy Bitsy Da Vinci” award; the “Miniature Michelangelo” award will go to the ages 7 and 8 year old group; the “Pee Wee Picasso” will go to the winner of the ages 9 and 10 category; ages 11 and 12 will compete to win the “Junior Van Gogh” award; and 12 and above can compete to be “Mr. and Mrs. Monet.” Winners will be announced before the movie starts, approximately 8:15 p.m.
Back to the Future, is the last of the “Screenings Under the Stars” free outdoor movie series on Thursday, August 25 beginning at sundown at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. The film is part of the “Screenings Under the Stars” series is presented by Westchester County Parks and the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville. Back to the Future is rated PG.
