Police Blotter - Week of August 22nd

August 30, 2005

August 25

6:38 PM: A fire alarm was activated at the Metropolitan Transit Authority repair shop, in Harmon. Fire Department responded and determined that it was a false alarm.

6:48 AM: There was a report from a resident of Elmore Avenue that someone had thrown a melon at the caller’s home. Patrol responded and the matter is under investigation.

8:40 AM: There was a report from a resident of Reber Road of an burning odor in the home, as well as a problem with the circuit breaker. Fire Department responded.

2:10 PM: There was a report from a resident of loud music coming from a construction site on Achman Lane. Officer responded and spoke to workers on the site, who lowered the volume of the music.

2:40 PM: There was a report from a resident of Wells Avenue of larceny. The matter is under investigation.

4:50 PM: There was a report from a resident of Arrowcrest Drive of a sick raccoon on the street. Patrol responded, assessed the situation and destroyed the raccoon. The animal was disposed at the DPW.

9:25 PM: There was a report from a resident of Gerstein Street of a strange noise coming from the 2nd floor of her home. Patrol responded and found that the strange noises were coming from a fish filter.

August 26

9:35 AM: There was a report of smoke coming from the ground on Maple Street. Patrol responded and found mulch on fire. The officer put out the fire.

10:21 AM There was a report from a resident on Quaker Ridge Road of electrical wires down and a fire burning near a propane tank at the residence. Fire Department responded and put out the fire, and an additional brush fire that had started. Fire Department waited until Con Edison crew arrived to repair the wires.

3:28 PM A resident of White Plains reported that personal items had been stolen from their car while parked on Nordica Drive.

August 27

10:28 AM A resident of Morningside Drive reported a stolen wallet from her vehicle.

11:23 AM There was a report of graffiti on the picnic table in the gazebo at Half Moon Bay. The matter is under investigation.

3:21 AM Officer on patrol observed a Pennsylvania resident putting up A.L. Myers posters on village property. The officer issued an appearance summons for violation of posting signs on village property. The individual is due in court Wednesday.

August 28

7:18 PM: There was a complaint of a delivery being made after hours at Croton Auto Park on Riverside Drive. Officer responded and informed driver of proper delivery hours. The driver agreed to make delivery during proper hours.
