Shame On Them

September 1, 2005

To the editor,

In response to Ms. Grant’s (former trustee who supported Metro’s operations vehemently) letter, why should the other trustees who supported this operation and a ridiculously flawed deal which would have gotten us into worse trouble that this, have anything to say at all to news reporters.

I would think they would want to crawl under a rock. Ms. Grant, Eliott, Watkins, Waldman, Weigman and Kane put us all in this mess to begin with.

Shame on them for letting them in, letting them get away with many violations and still go ahead and issue special permits to operate, and shame on them for ever trying to cut a deal with them which wasted more of the village’s dollars.

You just don’t get it do you Ms. Minnett? Your heroine, Ms. Cudaquest is not the be all and end all of the garbage industry. The Mayor and trustees whom you name, all followed legal advice and made the tough decisions that laid the groundwork for the victory in court with Metro Enviro - you don’t honestly think that if the village had denied the permit outright because of community opposition and nothing else, that the court battles would not have begun back 7 plus years ago, and we would still have had a C&D facility there with no controls in the permit at all.

Wake up and give up. We are tired of your petty partisan politics and your never ending efforts to blame all your problems on other people.
