Police Blotter - Week of August 29th

September 7, 2005

August 30

8:05 AM: There was a report of a burglary at the clubhouse at Halfmoon Bay. Suspects entered the facility through the gym and damaged the property by leaving graffiti and having stolen some weight lifting equipment. The matter is under investigation.

August 31

2:36 AM: A tree limb was blocking the roadway on Mt. Airy Road. Patrol responded and cleared the road without incident.

10:57 AM: There was a report of a tree and wire down Old Post Road North and Brook Street. Patrol responded and called DPW, who responded to clear the roadway.

5:16 PM: There was a report from County Fire Control Department at Croton Point Park about a dumpster fire in the campground area. Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire without incident.

September 1

9:36 AM: There was a report of a garbage truck on fire on Rt. 9 North at the Rt. 129 entrance ramp. Patrol and Fire Department responded and reported that the vehicle fire, not the load, was started by an electrical system malfunction. The truck is owned and operated by Finney Bros. Refuse of Bedford Hills, New York.

12:46 PM: The construction manager from the Croton Harmon High School site, reported that sometime overnight a digital voice recorder from the field office was stolen. The matter is under investigation.

2:44 PM: A resident of Yorktown Heights reported that sometime within the previous two weeks, her monthly parking permit for the train station parking lot was stolen from her car. The matter is under investigation.

September 2

1:32 AM: The was a complaint of noise from a large group of youths the Hendry Corp. parking lot on Scenic Drive West. Patrol responded and cleared the area without incident.

2:39 PM: There was a report from a resident of Beekman Avenue about a group of youths playing ball on the street. Patrol and cleared the area without incident.

11:51 PM: The security guard at Senasqua Park reported that six persons were trespassing in the park after hours, which closes at 8:00 PM, winter hours, 10:00 PM, summer hours. Patrol responded and cleared the area without incident.

September 3

8:25 AM: There was a report of another burglary at the clubhouse at Halfmoon Bay where graffiti was placed inside the building on the walls. The matter is under investigation.

9:50 AM: There was a report from a resident of Cedar Lane that sometime within the week someone had stolen their canoe from the shoreline area of the Croton River. The matter is under investigation.

3:48 PM: There was a report from a resident of Lark Lane about smoke inside their residence. Patrol and Fire Department responded and determined the cause of the smoke to be from a malfunctioning washing machine.

9:39 PM: There was a alarm activation at Burchetta Electric on Senasqua Road. Patrol and Fire Department responded and determined that a smoke detector in one of the office rooms was activated from dust.

September 4

1:45 PM: There was a report from a resident of Irving Avenue that sometime over the weekend, someone had thrown eggs at their home. No damage was reported and the matter is under investigation.

4:06 PM: There was a report from a resident from Pamona, New York, that at some time during the day, her cell phone was stolen while she was at the Croton Diner. The matter is under investigation.

8:04 PM: Patrol discovered a small brush fire, an unattended campfire, just north of the Croton Yaght Club along the beach. Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire without incident.

10:50 PM: There was a report of a vehicle in the area of Truesdale Drive continually playing “Dixie” with their car horn. Patrol responded and was not able to locate the car in question.

September 5

2:57 PM: There was a report of some youths on the roof of a storage building in Vassalo Park. Patrols responded and spoke to the youths in question. The matter is being turned over to the youth officer.

September 6

12:18 AM: The security guard at Senasqua Park reported that he saw a train that had fire coming from beneath the car. Patrol responded and determined that a concrete railroad tie and become lodged under the train car causing sparks and smoke. MTA Police took over matter from Croton Police.

8:31 AM: There was a parking complaint at CET from the district bus company as cars were blocking the roadway leading to the school. Patrol and Parking Enforcement Officer responded and issued summons to cars parked in violation and assisted in clearing the area insuring the safe passage of school buses.
