Chapin Run Turns 25

September 11, 2005

The 25th Annual Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger is set for Sunday, October 16, 2005 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The Chapin Run is a wonderful family-oriented community event that brings out seasoned runners of all abilities and weekend warriors of all ages for a magnificent run through Croton, all the while raising money and increasing awareness for hunger relief.

The 10K road race course (12:30 PM start) takes a scenic route over the historic Croton Dam by way of Batten Road and Quaker Bridge Road. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age category for this race. Last year saw, David Mitzi of Mahopac, with the fastest time of 35:50.

Walkers and families who sign up for the one-mile Fun Run (start time Noon), which loops around CET Elementary School by way of Cleveland Drive, will receive custom race medals at the finish line for participating.

Don’t run off after the race either, otherwise you’ll miss the awards ceremony, entertainment and refreshments, in front of Croton Harmon High School.
