There will be a fundraising event for 19-year-old Croton-on-Hudson resident, Andrew Font, pictured with his mom Christina, who was diagnosed in December 2004, with stage 4 alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma on Saturday, October 1, 2005, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Carrie E. Tompkims Elementary School (CET).
Andrew’s cancer had already spread to the bone marrow, and there is a possible spot on his kidney and lung. Andrew was treated immediately with radiation treatment and a chemotherapy regiment of V-vincristine, A-actinomycin and C-cytoxan (VAC).
He has been in and out of the hospital over the past few months for his chemo, tests, fever, dehydration and surgery. It’s been a long hard road for him both physically and emotionally. The road is still long and winding but right now he is going forward. He is fighting the fight.
The fundraising event, a day to celebrate life, with the goal of allowing Andrew to realize a long held dream of journeying to Australia with his family, is co-sponsored by the CHHS National Honor Society and the National Police Support Network (NPSN), includes food & drink, games & contests, prizes, a DJ and entertainment for the whole family.
A raffle will also take place with items such as a TV/DVD Combo, an iPod, digital camera, dinner gift certificates and much more, up for grabs! The silent auction features an an autographed Cold Play guitar, signed NY Giants helmet & NY Jets football, plus many other exciting sports/leisure items.
The suggested donation for admission is $15.00 per adult and $5.00 per child. Commemorative t-shirts will also be available in advance or on the day of the event.
If you are unable to attend, please make a donation to Andrew by sending a check to:
