The Croton-Harmon varsity boys’ football team stumbled in their second league game this past Saturday at Westlake by a score of 33-22. The visiting Tigers tried to overcome 3 early turnovers with a 16-point 4th quarter rally but it wasn’t enough. Croton’s offense was highlighted by its first 100 yard receiver of the season with Ben Rudnick catching 5 passes for 100 yards, including a 55 yard TD pass from league passing leader Eric Berger in the third quarter. Berger leads all Section 1 C League A quarterbacks with 344 yards passing in league play.
Despite an improved passing attack; a potent Westlake running attack (289 yards) and the three fumbles were too much to overcome the 26-0 halftime deficit the Tigers dug for themselves. Their record falls to 1-1 in the league and 1-3 overall.
Next up for the Tigers is the last scheduled home game of the season against a tough Bronxville team (3-1 overall, 2-1 league) this Saturday October 8, 2005 at 4 PM.
