The Village of Croton on Hudson Water Department will begin the semi-annual hydrant-flushing program on October 11, 2005. Flushing will be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight. The flushing program is expected to take three weeks to complete.
The Water Department will begin the flushing program at the Village well field on Route 129. From there, we will continue flushing hydrants, throughout the Village, working towards the end of the Village water system in the vicinity of the Croton/Harmon Train Station.
As the hydrant-flushing program nears your neighborhood, you may notice a slight discoloration of your water. This is temporary and poses no health risk. Simply run your water for a short period of time until it clears up. Do not do any laundry until you are sure your water is clear. If the discoloration persists, contact the Croton-on-Hudson DPW at 271-3775.
The Water Department apologizes for any inconvenience this hydrant-flushing program may cause. This procedure is necessary to insure the continued cleanliness of the water system and is mandated by the New York State Department of Health. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this operation.
