Six men, two from Croton-on-Hudson, rode in the Multiple Sclerosis Tappan Zee Bike Tour on Sunday, October 2, 2005 (view slideshow). Team Captian Jason put together a group of riders, that were evenly represented in both the 20-mile and 60-mile rides, and raised close to $4,500. The pledges will help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) achieve its mission of ending the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Utilizing Jason’s on-bike trip computer, the 20-mile group, with Scott and Ross, finished the ride in 1:52 minutes, including a short break at the 10-mile mark, in Ramapo State Park, at an average speed of around 12 mph. Meanwhile, Stephen, Rob and Christopher who took the 60-mile route, which came through Croton-on-Hudson via Rt. 129, later finished in 5:32 minutes.
Over 1,000 people helped make the bike tour a great event. This year, including the MS Bike Tour, the Southern New York Chapter has raised over $217,000 for the fight against MS. Donations are still being accepted, and with the continued support of the cyclists, volunteers and sponsors, the chapter is on the way to meeting thier annual goal of $300,000.
