The 2005 edition of the Croton-Harmon football team has come to an end with a quarterfinal round playoff loss to perennial power Dobbs Ferry on Saturday by a score of 39-16. Dobbs, the top ranked team in the state, had built up a 21-0 lead by halftime and never looked back. The young Croton Tigers perhaps made a statement about next year by rallying for 16 fourth quarter points in the losing effort on a one yard run by Eric Berger and a TD pass from Berger to Chris Perez.
Dobbs offense was too much for the Tigers by racking up 320 total yards, including 291 on the ground. Croton, who has averaged 212 yards per game in league play, managed just 121 yards total offense. Next up for Dobbs in the sectional playoffs is a very tough Bronxville team.
Croton-Harmon can now look forward to next season when they return nearly two thirds of their roster. Congratulations to all players for an outstanding season and a never give-up attitude. Good luck to all the seniors who will be graduating this spring, we’ll see you at homecoming 2006!
