Spooktacular Illuminations

October 25, 2005

If you didn’t have a chance to get into the Halloween spirit by stopping by Van Cortlandt Manor to take in the Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze; then enjoy some of these photos taken October 21, 2005. There are still many spooky events scheduled for the Sleepy Hollow area this coming weekend.

The extraordinary carvings (view slideshow) in some of the Jack O’ Lanterns were truly worth seeing. They range from the very simple to the fabulously ornate. There is something for everyone from Scarecrow Hill to Celtic graveyards to fishy aquariums to the spooky Manor itself. Many of the 3,000 pumpkins were carved by local artists and volunteers.

Van Cortlandt Manor is located at 525 South Riverside Avenue, off Route 9 in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. For more information about the The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, click here.
