Police Blotter - Week of October 17th

October 25, 2005

October 18

2:34 PM: A resident of Mohegan Lake reported that while she was parked on South Riverside Avenue she had mistakenly locked herself out of her car, which had her two children inside. Patrol responded and gained entry to the vehicle without incident.

October 19

11:50 AM: There was a report from a resident of Melrose Avenue that sometime overnight someone had damaged her outdoor plants and fence. The matter is under investigation.

October 20

10:20 AM: An alarm company called to report a fire activation at a residence on Hessian Hills Road. Patrol and Fire Department responded and determined that the alarm was accidentally set off while the furnace was being cleaned.

2:20 PM: There was a report from a resident of Old Post North that she had a gas odor in her home. Patrol and Fire Department responded and determined that there was a possible electrical short in the house and disabled the area until an electrician was notified for repair.

4:42 PM: There was a report of a car parked in front of the Croton Harmon High School about a car with the keys locked inside with the motor running. Patrol responded and gained entry to the vehicle without incident.

9:39 PM: There was a report from a motorist who locked their keys inside their car with the engine running on South Riverside Avenue. Patrol responded and gained entry to the vehicle without incident.

October 22

7:00 PM: There were seven calls to Police HQ about alarms going off after a power surge which temporarily knocked out power for 2 to 3 minutes. Patrol responded to check activations and determined the cause to be due to the grid related electrical malfunction.

October 23

1:32 AM: Patrol stopped a vehicle for vehicle and traffic infractions on South Riverside Avenue and subsequently arrested a 42-year-old male from Stamford CT for DWI. The individual brought to Police HQ, and later released to a friend after posting a $250.00 bail. He is due in Village Court on November 9, 2005 at 9:30 AM.
