November 13, 2005

The magic tale of a young girl and her favorite Christmas gift will come alive when the Westchester Ballet Company presents The Nutcracker on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 9, 10 and 11, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

With more than 130 talented performers, dressed in 200 colorful costumes, and beautiful scenery, the Westchester Ballet Company returns for its 10th season of what has become a classic holiday event in Westchester, at an affordable price for children and adults of all ages.

This first-rate production will delight and enchant the audience as it tells the story of Clara and her beloved nutcracker doll and a journey they take one Christmas Eve. Along the way they encounter an evil mouse king, a handsome prince, dancing snowflakes and a Sugar Plum Fairy.

Performances are Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday. A special performance exclusively for schools is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday. Advance-sale tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children under age 12 and for senior citizens with a Senior Citizen identification card. All tickets are $22 per person on the day of each performance. School groups can call (914) 864-7173 for tickets for the Friday morning show.
