Police Blotter - Week of November 7th

November 15, 2005

November 7

5:19 PM: There was a report from a resident of Half Moon Bay about a burning smell coming from his computer. Patrol and fire department responded to the scene and assisted without incident.

9:42 PM: There was a report from a resident from Brook Street that someone had just broken the front window of his residence. Patrol responded to confirm incident. The matter is under investigation.

November 8

9:42 AM: The custodian at Croton Harmon High School reported that within the past couple of days, someone had damaged a storage trailer behind the school. The matter is under investigation.

November 9

8:30 AM: Detective arrested a 17-year-old Croton-on-Hudson youth for writing graffiti on public and private property over the past few weeks. The youth was later released on his own recognizance to a family member. He also appeared in Village court on November 9, 2005 at 9:30 AM to answer said charges.

November 10

10:21 AM: The Croton-on-Hudson Parks and Recreation Department reported that sometime during the past few days someone had damaged playground equipment at Dobbs Park. The matter is under investigation.

8:26 PM: An alarm company reported an activated alarm on Olcott Avenue. Fire Department responded and determined the activation was caused by popcorn burning in a microwave.

November 11

3:27 PM: There was a report of a youth setting off at Spencer Field. Patrol responded and located 5 youths between the ages of 12-13 years-old. The group was brought to police HQ and later released to their parents. The youth officer will also follow up with the parents of the youths.

4:09 PM: Westchester County Fire Control requested assistance with the overturned oil tanker that spilled oil into a brook in Crotonville. Fire Department responded and assisted the Ossining Fire Department.

November 13

12:11 AM: There was a report of an auto accident on North Riverside and Brook Street where a moving car struck a parked car. Patrol responded and arrested the driver for DWI. The operator, a 25-year-old male from Rochester, NY, was also charged with other Vehicle and Traffic violations. He was later released to a friend and is due back in Village court on November 23, 2005 at 9:30 AM.

12:24 AM: There was a report of a brush fire on Batten Road. Patrol and Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze without incident.

12:12 PM: Westchester County Fire Control requested that the Croton Fire Department respond to an auto rollover on Colabaugh Pond Road, near Wood Dale Avenue. Fire Department and ambulance responded and subsequently transported an individual involved in the accident to Westchester County Medical Center for treatment.
