Hoping to give foster children something to be grateful for this holiday season, Westchester is once again looking for donors and volunteers willing to join a countywide toy drive. Gifts are being sought for about 750 kids in private foster homes and residential facilities. The youngsters are all receiving assistance through the Department of Social Services and are some of the county’s neediest children.
Unwrapped gifts for a child or a young adult from birth to age 20 can be brought to five locations throughout the county. Children with specific gift requests can also be “sponsored.”
A holiday collection bin is located on the first floor of the Michaelian Office building. Please bring your new unwrapped gift item and place it in the bin or bring it to the Department of Social Services receptionist at the following offices:
The county collected more than 1,000 gifts last year. If you have any questions, please contact Barbara Sabater, assistant to the commissioner, Department of Social Services, (914) 995-5516.
