Earlier this week Crotonblog published two articles about the Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School Winter Concert called “With The Band” and “The Way You Move”. Not to be outdone, the children in the music programs at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School put on an awesome performance for a standing-room-only crowd on Friday, December 23, 2005.
For starters, the CET Strings, led by Jane Parkhouse and Sara Worden, amazed the audience with holiday favorites that included “Happy Kwanza”, “Oh Hannukah” and “Good King Wencelas”.
Next, the fourth grade band, led by Ivelaw Carrington, was loud & proud with “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel”, “Jingle Bells” and “Hot Cross Buns”. The fourth grade chorus, with music teacher Carol Lopeman on piano, concluded the performance with beautiful takes on “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Feliz Navidad” and “Hannukah’s Child” (view the “With The Band Too” photo gallery).
Extra thanks are also due to Principal Diana Bowers, Assistant Principal Kelly Maloney and the entire CET staff for hosting a terrific event for parents, relatives and friends of the student performers.
