December 10

10:27 AM: There was a report from the manager of Sav-Mor Drugs that employees were not feeling well as a result of smelling gas. Patrol and Fire Department responded, evacuated the building, ventilated the premises and later cleared the way for the occupants and customers to return to the store.

December 11

8:31 AM: The custodian at the Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School reported that sometime overnight someone had stolen an auto part from one of the trucks in the school parking lot. The matter is under investigation.

7:22 PM: There was a report of a fire alarm activation at a residence of the 2,000 block of Quaker Bridge Road. Fire Department responded and found smoke in the home. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a burned washing machine belt was the cause of the alarm.

December 13

6:39 AM: There was a report from a resident on Georgia Lane about fire in the boiler room of his home. Patrol, Croton Fire Department, Ossining Fire Department and Buchanan Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.

9:14 PM: There was a report from a resident of Gerstein Street that at some point during the evening someone threw eggs at her home. The matter is under investigation.

10:05: There was a report of an accident on Rt. 9 Northbound at the Croton Point Avenue exit. Patrols, Fire Department and several ambulances responded. The vehicle, a 1994 Toyota Camry with four youths, aged 16 to 17 years-old, was operating northbound on Rt. 9 during foggy and rainy road conditions. While the driver attempted to proceed on the Croton Point Avenue off-ramp, the driver lost control of the car and struck a tree. At 6:50 AM the following morning, Croton Police was notified by the Westchester County Medical Examiner that one of the youths, a sixteen-year-old Ossining resident seated behind the driver passed away from injuries sustained in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.

December 14

9:36 PM: There was a report on Dream Lake Road in the Town of Cortlandt about a wire and tree down blocking passage on the road. Fire Department and Con Ed responded to clear the road without incident.

December 15

9:56 PM: Officer on patrol observed four 15-year-old Croton youths in possession of fireworks. Officer confiscated the fireworks, dismissed the youths and referred the matter to the Croton Youth Officer to follow up with the youth’s parents.
