February 18, 2006

The Croton-Harmon High School Boys Varsity Basketball team—who are enjoying one of their best regular seasons in recent years—are fresh off of a regular season ending 72-64 win over rival Hendrick Hudson, will begin their quest for a Sectional Championship with a home playoff game this Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at 7:00 PM against the Woodlands High Falcons at Croton Harmon High School.

The Falcons, out of Hartsdale, NY, come into the game as the No. 6 seed in the sectional. The Falcons finished their regular season atop the Section 1 III-C standings with an overall record of 14-7 and 7-1 in league play. They are led by Larry Grant with a 15.0 points per game scoring average.

Croton, who won the Section 1 III-B regular season title, comes into the game as the No. 3 seed and boasts an 18-2 overall record and a stellar 9-0 league record. The Tigers ended their regular season on an impressive 9-game winning streak capped by the win over Hen Hud.

The Tigers are led by Seniors Nick DiMaggio, Matt Tusa, Ian Scollins, Eric Berger, and Billy Rice. DiMaggio had an outstanding season and led the league in scoring with a 19.7 PPG average. He also recently passed the 1,000 point mark in his varsity career. Fellow Senior Matt Tusa has averaged 13.8 PPG for the Tigers this season.

Please come out and support these fine young men as they look to capitalize on their regular season success. A loud and supportive “6th man” will be just the boost the Tigers need in this opening round as they look to vie for the Section 1 championship.
