Let's Give Croton Seniors Their Refund

On February 21, 2006 the Croton-on-Hudson Village Board of Trustees adopted a resolution (video clip) for a public hearing to increase Croton’s seniors’ income level for partial real estate tax exemptions in line with NYS real property tax law. The Town of Cortlandt and other Westchester communities have already done so in 2003.
I voted to approve this resolution for a public hearing on March 6, 2006 at 8:00 PM, to hear resident’s comments, but in retrospect no provision to credit or refund this apparent oversight to seniors is included in the proposed law or as a separate action before the Board. As a sitting trustee, I’m deeply embarrassed by this oversight and hopefully my fellow Village Board members will consider including a refund or credit in a separate resolution for discussion.
