CCoA's Local Color 9 set to Open in May

March 31, 2006

Local Color 9—an annual art exhibit—sponsored by the Croton Council on the Arts (CCoA) celebrates the works of area artists, who employ various media. The opening reception is set for Saturday, May 6, 2006 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Art Barn, located at 211 North Highland Avenue Route 9, Ossining, New York.

The public is cordially invited, admission is free and refreshments will be served. The show will continue through May 20, with viewing 10-6 (Monday-Wednesday, Friday, Saturday), 10-8 (Thu), and Sun (12-5) May 6. The Art Barn and the show will be closed Sunday, May 14, Mother’s Day.

Most of the art works will be for sale, and have in the past included paintings, photographs, collages, sculptures, pottery, jewelry, and fiber and bead art. The annual show has been successful for both artists and art enthusiasts. It is one of the many programs organized by CCoA each year to nurture the arts as an important contribution to life in the Croton area. Collectors from throughout Westchester are likely to visit the show, as they have each year.

This exhibition is yet another contribution to furthering the awareness and appreciation of visual, literary, musical, and dramatic arts in the community. CCoA is a not-for-profit organization. For additional information, please contact Allison Stewart at 271-9581.

Maggie Loewenwarter reports to Crotonblog that “it (CCoA’s Local Color 9) was the most successful show yet, based by sales. We sold 13 photographs. Also, Marjie and Andy Zelman won the doorprize donated by local photographer Kev Filmore.”
