Croton Youth Lacrosse "Picks" Date for Fundraiser

April 27, 2006

The brand-new Croton Youth Lacrosse League wants to hang out with you! We are getting together at The Grandstand here in Croton (197 Grand St.) on Friday, May 12th at 8:00 PM for an evening of good friends, food from Cappriccio’s II, open bar (!), good music, pool-playing and shuffle-boarding.

Please join us, at $40 per person—to raise funds for the new league—which is for 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls. Additionally, our goal is to include 5th and 6th grade boys for the ‘06-‘07 school year.

If you would like to attend, please mail your check ($40 per person) to Croton Youth Lacrosse, c/o 49 Penfield Ave., Croton-on-Hudson, 10520 by Monday, May 8, 2006. Tickets will be available at the door, however advance payment is appreciated. If you cannot attend, but would like to make a contribution to the new league, please send a check to the same address (much appreciated!).

For further information regarding Croton Youth Lacrosse, please contact Sean Cammann (scammann AT ambac DOT com) or Marc McEntee (mcenma AT consumer DOT org). Croton Youth Lacrosse is a not-for-profit corporation that is in the process of applying for a tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code, and is a member of the Hudson Valley Lacrosse chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. The goal of the league is to enable Croton’s kids to be able to take part in this great sport at an earlier age.

This is one of the reasons we “gotta luvcrtn”…. see a need and take action!

We spent hundreds of hours pacing up and down the sidelines of lacrosse fields all over Westchester County when our kids played for CHHS and up and down the eastern seaboard for their college play. I miss the comradarie and spirit of those days and wish this new group of parents success and fun as they develop this great opporuntiy for their youngsters.

Lacrosse is by far one of the greatest spectator sports going. It’s exciting, energetic, fast and a real team building sport. No one player is all important and the team members learn to trust and depend upon one another in every move they make.

It’s envigorating physically, mentally and emotionally. You’ll have my check in the mail and my support when you need it. For now, I applaud your efforts.
