On Saturday April 29th, 2006, Croton’s Cub Scout Pack 28 met for a 7:00 AM clean-up at Black Rock Park in commemoration of Earth Day where a total of 39 volunteers—20 scouts and 19 parent helpers—turned out to help make Croton a little cleaner. The Scouts not only learned about performing community service; but also realized how messy the world can become when some people forget or neglect to pick up after themselves.
All the volunteers worked extremely hard in cleaning up the picnic areas, parking area, river bank, and hillside at Black Rock Park. In total, the Pack collected 8 large bags of garbage and other “interesting” debris. Some of the larger, more unusual items recovered included: 5 tires of various sizes, a steel core door, bricks of many different sizes, various metal objects and pipes, chicken wire, a rug and a pair of jeans.
Good “clean” fun was had by all who participated. Nice work Pack 28!!!
