"Upstander Day" in Croton Declared for May 18th
“Upstander Day” was recently set for Thursday, May 18, 2006, throughout Westchester, Putnam, and Fairfield counties. The Village of Croton-on-Hudson will be one of almost two dozen diverse communities that will observe “Upstander Day” with the intent of heightening awareness and advocacy, based on the premise that change can be effected from the grassroots level.
The Croton community is invited to participate in an evening of inspirational words, art and song in the main gym at Croton-Harmon High School from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The evening will feature numerous speakers from the community, local musical acts including Soapbox Paradox, Yellow Hammer, Gelatinous Cube, Abstract Reason, the CET chorus, and a West African drumming troupe. A candle-light vigil will follow—ending at Vasallo Park—where folks can linger and learn about how to take action and make a difference in the world
