Putting Used Bikes to Good Use Beyond Croton...

May 17, 2006

Have any used or old bikes in your basement or garage that you are not using or planning on throwing out? Why not bring them over to the parking lot of the Asbury United Methodist Church located at 19 Old Post Road South, Croton-on-Hudson, this Saturday, May 21, 2006 between 1PM-4PM and donate it to “Pedals for progress”.

“Pedals for Progress” is a non-profit, New Jersey based organization that accepts donations of used bicycles and ships them off to developing countries where they are used for transportation to get to jobs and school. Last year p4p received and shipped more than 3,000 bikes to developing countries all over the world. In their 15 year history, p4p has shipped nearly 100,000 bikes globally!

This bicycle donation drive is a multi-denominational event sponsored locally by Asbury United Methodist Church, Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, and Temple Israel of Northern Westchester. For more information please call 914-271-3150 (days) or 271-3178 (evenings). A $10 donation is requested to help offset the high cost of shipping. ALL bicycle and monetary donations are tax deductible.
