Held over for a second month! Jazz vocalist George Evans celebrates the US release of his sixth solo cd, “Bewitched” (mp3) this week in Manhattan at Danny’s Skylight Room. George’s shows will be May 25, 26, 27, 2006 at 9:15 pm. Danny’s is located at 346-348 W. 46th Street on Restaurant Row. George will be accompanied by the fabulous John di Martino on piano and Bill Moring on bass in this intimate and friendly venue.
When vocalist George Evans left the New York City for Canada in 1991, he fully intended to return. Now 15 years later, George is a beloved jazz and cabaret entertainer on the Canadian scene with six critically praised albums and a host of other projects to his credit. George’s local connection is his sister, Croton architect Julie Evans, brother-in-law, Leo Wiegman, and nephew, Adrian.
On stage, George Evans conveys a warm presence, an easy charm, and an off-beat sense of humor that audiences find disarming. Though clearly a jazz artist, George is deeply rooted in the New York cabaret tradition. He appears this month at Danny’s in support of his latest CD, Bewitched.
