May 30

8:34 AM: There was a report from a resident on Devon Avenue about a burning odor coming from a ceiling fan inside his residence. Patrol and Fire Department responded to the scene and reported that the odor may indeed have come from a possible electrical fire in the area of the fan.

8:45 AM: There was a report of a small brush fire on Elliott Way just north of the Croton Yacht Club. Patrol and Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire without incident.

8:39 PM: There was a report from a resident on Park Avenue about a gas odor. Patrol and Fire Department responded to the scene and determined the odor originated from a nearby pool where chlorine was recently used for water treatment.

May 31

7:06 AM: There was a report from a resident of Alexander Lane that sometime overnight someone had spray-painted graffiti on the street. The matter is under investigation.

1:30 PM: There was a report from a resident from Upper North Highland Place about a small unhurt deer that may have been separated from its mother. Patrol responded and subsequently called Wildlife Rescue to help the animal.

June 1

1:35 PM: There was a report from a passer-by about a tree limb and wires down in the road. Patrol, DPW and Con Edison responded to the scene to direct traffic, clear the debris, fix the wires and later reopen the road for safe passage.

3:34 PM: There was report from a passer-by about a small brush fire south of the Harmon Station on the railroad tracks. Patrol and Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire without incident.

6:51 PM: There was a report from a resident of Hastings Avenue about a fallen tree that was blocking the road. Patrol and Croton DPW responded to the scene to direct traffic and clear the debris.

7:44 PM: County Fire Control requested mutual aid from the Croton Fire Department to stand-by at the Montrose Fire Station.

7:50 PM: There was a report from a resident of Old Post Road South about a tree that had fallen in his driveway and landed on his property. Patrol responded to the scene and noted that the car was subsequently damaged Officer suggested that the homeowner call a tree service to remove the debris as the tree was located on private property.

10:48 PM: There was a report from a resident of Elmore Avenue that while he was walking his dog on Elmore Avenue, a coyote tried to attack his dog. According to the man’s personal account he struck the coyote on the head with a flashlight and later yelled at the animal—scaring it away. Patrol later responded to the area but was unable to locate the coyote in question.

June 4

1:10 PM: There was a report of a lost male child on Grand Street during Summerfest. A short time later the child was reunited with his parents.

5:37 PM: There was a report from a passer-by of an individual climbing through a window of a residence on Brook Street. Patrol responded to the scene and determined that the person in question was in fact the homeowner.

9:06 PM: Police from the 44th precinct in New York City called to report that they had arrested and had a 61-year-old man in custody. The man was being for sought by Croton PD for an arrest warrant on charges of Criminal Contempt for violating an order of Protection—a felony. Croton Police picked up the man and brought him to Police HQ where he was later arraigned by the judge. The man was remanded to the Westchester County County Jail while bail was set at $20,000. The man is due in Village Court on June 7, 2006 at 9:30 AM.

10:52 PM: There was a report from a resident of Grand Street about loud noise coming from the Grandstand Bar. Patrol responded to the scene and asked the proprietor to lower the noise and close the door.
