Croton Fire Fair Ingnites Sunday for 25th Year

The annual Croton Fire Fair is set to take place, for its 25th year, on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at the Harmon Firehouse from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

As always Croton’s volunteer firefighters drill local youngsters on such life-saving activities as “Stop, Drop and Roll,” “Escape ladder,” “Through the Window,” “911 Emergency Phone Call,” and “Exit Drill in the Home.” After completing all of the fire safety tasks, children and their families are invited for a ride around the neighborhood on one of the fire trucks.

Other fun family activities include a fire truck slide, a magician and a coloring contest and prizes. For the adults, the AAA Emergency Supply Company will be on-hand selling escape ladders, first aid kits, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and more at wholesale prices. Grilled hot dogs, popcorn and refreshments are also available to visitors, free of charge, courtesy of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.

Reader’s note: See pictures from last year’s event, held on October 9, 2005.
