Out of Town on November 7th? Vote Absentee Now!
October 29, 2006
If there is even the slightest chance that you might not be in town to vote on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 7th, NOW is the time to get your absentee ballot and send it in. I am in Michigan that day, so here is what I did.
Voting absentee is a simple two step process:
- apply for the absentee ballot by mail from County Board of Elections by Oct 31st, and
- receive it from County and mail it back on or before Nov 6th.
Download the application form here or stop by Village Manager’s office in the Municipal Building on Monday (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) for a copy. Mail it to the County address below by Tuesday. Oct 31, 2006.
The County will check that you are properly registered to vote and mail out an absentee ballot to youl. You then must fill it out and mail it back to the County postmarked by Nov 6th.
Westchester County Board of Elections 25 Quarropas Street White Plains, New York 10601
Absentee Ballots: 914 995-5285
PS. The following are reasons for absence on election day that the County accepts:
- Duties, Occupation, Business, Studies or Vacation in which you expect to be absent from the county.
- Patient or inmate of VA Hospital
- Jail or Prison
- Illness, Physical Disability or Hospital Patient
- Accompanying a Spouse or Child for one of above categories.
