Croton Police Blotter - Week of November 27th
December 5, 2006
November 27
7:34 PM: Alarm company reported a smoke alarm activation at a residence on Bramblebush Road. Croton Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that the cause of the alarm was burning food on the stove.
November 28
10:34 AM: Patrol reported damage to lights and playground equipment damage at Dobbs Park which had occurred sometime overnight. The matter is under investigation.
1:35 PM: There was a report from an employee at the Croton Harmon High School about some graffiti applied to a wall behind the school that occurred in recent days. The matter is under investigation.
November 29
10:45 AM: There was a report from a resident of Croton that at some time during the day, her daughter’s digital camera was stolen from her backpack at croton Harmon High School. The matter is under investigation.
December 2
1:03 AM: Patrols reported that a tree limb had fallen on the sidewalk near the Croton Free Library on Cleveland Drive. The following morning Croton DPW responded to the scene to remove the fallen debris.
1:57 AM: Patrol reported an injured deer near Rt. 9 and Wolf Road. Officer destroyed the animal and subsequently notified Croton DPW to remove the remains from the area.
11:31 AM: There was a requested for mutual aid from MTA Police regarding a problem with a passenger on an incoming train.
December 3
6:29 AM: There was a report from a resident of Young Avenue about a minor fire located in the back of her home. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene but the fire was already extinguished prior to their arrival.
December 4
12:21 PM: Patrols responded to an accident where a vehicle struck a utility pole on Grand Street and Wood Road. Patrol subsequently arrested the driver, a 51-year-old male resident of Croton for DWI. The vehicle was towed from the scene; the man was transported to Police HQ where he was later released to a friend after $100.00 bail. The man is due in Village Court on December 6, 2006 at 9:30 AM.
2:46 PM: There was a report of debris in the road on Rt. 9 Northbound. Patrol responded to the scene and was subsequently located the offending motor vehicle and issued a summons for driving with uncovered load/cargo. Officer also contacted NYSDOT to respond the area to remove the hay and power tools from the roadway.
5:36 PM: There was a report from a resident of Truesdale Drive that a tire was slashed on his car while it was parked in the driveway. The matter is under investigation.
10:08 PM: There was a report from a resident of Thompson Avenue about fireworks being lit. Patrol responded to the area but was unable to locate any person in question.
10:48 PM: There was a report from a resident of Thompson Avenue about fireworks being lit. Patrol responded to the area and subsequently spoke to a resident who corrected the complaint.
