'Twon't be the Night Before "ChristmaHanuKwanzah" in Croton

But anyway, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town!” for an event sponsored by the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Recreation & Parks Department. The “holiday” event—recently transformed from Mayor Dr. Gregory Schmidt’s “Winterfest” (see video) of years past—is now being cast as “Circus in Toyland.”

Set for Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 2:00 PM, Christian residents are encouraged to gather at the Harmon Fire House, at the corner of Wayne St. & Benedict Boulevard, for “holiday” entertainment followed by a visit from Santa Claus from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

You bet I did meant to add Happy Hanukah to my Jewish friends and I thank you for doing so. I incorrectly thought Happy Holiday covered it.

There’s a great piece in today’s Gazette written by Rabbi Steven Kane of Congregational Sons of Israel in Briarcliff Manor. It’s an excellent essay and should be a must read for all of us !

Now I’m sure that was just an oversight, Weewill — I’m sure you meant to add “Happy Hanukah,” too.

And a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanzaa and a Festive Festivus to all!

When the Village supported Winterfest, Santa Claus arrived on the fire truck.

There were concerns expressed by a few then also. The “event” is clearly open to anyone who wants to participate—certainly not just Christians!

I’d hate to think the very name of a fun, happy event would create more divisiveness when we should all be supporting and appreciating our differences.

Happy Holiday, Happy Kwanzai, Merry Christmas and Felice Navidas!
