Croton Police Blotter - Week of January 8th
January 18, 2007
January 8
11:52 AM: There was a report from a resident of Elmore Avenue about a door-to-door salesman who was selling food items from his truck. Patrol responded to the scene and advised the man in question to stop as he is required to have a permit.
January 9
2:47 PM: Alarm company reported an activated fire alarm at building 30 on MTA property. Patrol, Croton Fire Department and MTA police responded to the scene and determined that worker in the building caused the alarm.
January 11
1:40 AM: Officer of patrol reported that the wooden sign and mailbox belonging to Prudential Richard Albert Real Estate was damaged sometime overnight. The matter is under investigation.
8:13 AM: There was a report from a passerby that there was a hardtop to a Jeep Wrangler was on the roadway on Route 9 South near the Croton Point Avenue onramp. Patrol responded to the scene and moved the top to the side of the road and subsequently notified NYSDOT to remove it from the roadway.
January 12
7:42 AM: There was a report from a resident on Lexington Drive that sometime overnight while her car was parked on the street in front of her home, both side mirrors on her car were damaged. The matter is under investigation.
8:58 PM: There was a report from a resident of Cleveland Drive that his house was “egged.” The matter is under investigation.
January 13
6:56 PM: There was a report from a resident of Morningside Drive that his carbon monoxide detector was activated. Patrol and croton Fire Department responded to the scene and check the house to insure that the premises were safe.
8:58 PM: Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on North Riverside Avenue for vehicle and traffic violations. Upon further investigation, officer charged a 63-year-old male resident of Croton-on-Hudson with vehicle and traffic violations and DWI. The car was towed from the scene, the driver was brought to Police HQ where he was later released to a family member after posting $200.00 bail. The man is due in Village Court on January 16, 2006, at 9:30 AM.
10:00 PM: There was a report from a resident of Croton-on-Hudson that while her car was parked on Old Post Road South, her purse was stolen from the car. The matter is under investigation.
11:40 PM: There was a report from a resident of Grand Street about a car parked in the area with loud music playing from it. Patrol responded to the scene and asked the owner of the vehicle to turn down the volume.
January 15
12:07 AM: Alarm company reported a fire alarm activation at a residence on Mt. Airy Road. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene and determined the alarm was set off by steam in the home.
