The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Water Department recently announced that they will begin their semi-annual hydrant-flushing program on April 10, 2007. The flushing procedure will be take place Mondays through Fridays between 8:00 AM and 12:00 midnight and is expected to take three weeks to complete. According to the village website, the water department will begin the flushing program at the Village well field on Route 129 and continue by working towards the end of the village water system, which is in the vicinity of the Croton Harmon Train Station.
Village officials warns residents that as the hydrant-flushing program continues, water users may notice a slight discoloration of the water. Those in charge assure that this is temporary and poses no health risk and suggest that by simply running the tap for a short period of time, the water will clear up. Additionally, they caution to not do any laundry until you are sure your water is clear and if the discoloration persists, they urge residents affected to contact the Croton-on-Hudson Department of Public Works at 914-271-3775.
