Sunday to be a Beautiful Day for a Shadfest in Croton

The Riverlovers’ Shadfest returns to Croton-on-Hudson on Sunday, May 20, 2007. In its 17th year, the festival, taking place at Croton Point Park, Shadfest is set to begin at 11:00 AM and continue until 5:00 PM.

The outdoor event will feature live music, food—including fresh shad dinners—along with hamburgers, hot dogs and corn on the cob, and tasty vegetarian chili. There will also be environmental exhibits, information booths, craft vendors, Native-American craft demonstrations and a variety of children’s entertainment.

The annual Shadfest—sponsored by the Westchester County Parks and Riverlovers Inc., is presented in cooperation with the Hudson River Foundation, the Beacon Sloop Club, and Ferry Sloops Inc.—marks the traditional return of the shad to spawn in the river between Kingston and Albany, New York.

Shadfest takes place rain or shine following this highlighted schedule of events;

  • Noon to 1:00 PM: Matt Turk Acoustic Trio
  • 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM: Walkabout Clearwater Chorus
  • 2:00 PM: Free shad samples courtesy of the Hudson River Foundation
  • 2:30 PM: Arm of the Sea Theater performs
  • 2:30 PM to the end: Lightning Screamed from Gertrude
