Community Blood Drive Rescheduled While Supplies Remain Low

Because of wintry weather and low attendance on December 2, 2007, Hudson Valley Blood Services has announced another day for village residents to donate blood.

This time around, and due to critically low supplies of blood, their emergency drive is set for Sunday, December 16, 2007 from 9:00 to 2:30 in the Community Room of the Stanley Kellerhouse Municipal Building, located at the intersection of Van Wyck Street and Old Post Road North in Croton-on-Hudson (map).

Those encouraged to donate blood include those who are in good health between the ages of 16 and 76. Donors will also be screened prior to donation, and those who should not donate are not permitted to do so. Hudson Valley Blood Services also notes that “being a blood donor involves no risk what-so-ever, since all equipment touching the donor is brand-new, sterile, disposable, and used only once.”

To make an appointment to donate blood, please call Carol Shanesy at 914-271-7645 or Jo Ann Fannon at 914-271-5529. Alternatively, residents can send email to communityblooddrive@gmail.com for more information.
