To the editor,
It’s important for officials at all levels of government to be aware of strong opposition to the Con Edison proposal for a 1.9 BILLION DOLLAR INCREASE in rates. We cannot allow this to happen (see Con Edison rate hike from WestchesterGov.com).
It becomes critical for each and every one of us to pay attention to what businesses and corporations and, yes, our governments—are doing to our limited and diminishing pocket books. Everyday another outrageous and extravagant “adjustment” comes down upon the already overburdened taxpayers in Westchester. This happens not only in the private sector but in our governments (village, town, county, state and federal!) as well.
The time is now. We need to stop this painful abuse. We need to speak out and let the Public Service Commission and all elected officials know we’ve reached our saturation point. The well has run dry. Downsizing is the word of the day! They need to stop scheduling meaningless public hearings and worrying about percentage increases. They’d best begin worrying about a taxpayers revolt, the likes of which they’ve never seen!
