Croton Republican Committee Elects New Officers

January 16, 2008

The Croton Republican Committee elected a new slate of officers including District Leaders to serve for the upcoming year. The new officers include Chuck Trendell (Chairperson) and Bob Wintermeier (Co-Chairperson). Steve Riccio and Jean Kraemer were reelected as Committee Treasurer and Secretary respectively. All officers and District Leaders have been active in community affairs and served on the Croton Republican Committee for several years.

Chuck lived in Croton for 44 years and is a retired Marketing Executive from Laser Systems Corporation. He served as a Village of Croton on Hudson Trustee from 1980 to 1982.

Bob retired from IBM as a Program Manager after 35 years with IBM. He lived in Croton since 1966 where he was actively involved with Scouting and Holy Name of Mary church activities. Following retirement, he became an active member of the Croton Republican Committee.

Steve is an investment professional who lived in Croton since the early 1990’s. He’s been Treasurer of the Croton Republican Committee for 12 years.

Jean lived in Croton since the early 1960s. She retired from the Briarcliff School District after 35 years of dedicated service as a Physical Education teacher. Currently, she is active with the Croton Seniors and the Holy Name of Mary Sunday School program. She also serves as an Election Day inspector.

The new officers want to invite Croton registered Republicans who are interested in running for Village offices, serving as District Leaders, or participating in local political events to join the Committee by contacting any of them or attending the Committee’s monthly meeting which is held at the Croton Public Library on the Fourth Thursday of each month from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.

Well said weewill!! Many important issues have been raised on this blog and it’s important to hear both sides of the story.

Congratulations to the newly elected Croton Republican Committee officers. Also, with optimism I welcome the Republican party back to Crotonblog. As a long-time Democrat and believer in the value of this forum, it’s very encouraging to think the Republican side of the aisle in local politics will again contribute to honest and open debate among neighbors.

Of course we expect passion and strong opinions but hope everyone will strive toward civility and courtesy and recognition of the fact that reasonable people can disagree! If you believe a candidate is a disaster candidate, feel free to say so. If you feel one candidate exceeds another in qualifications, feel free to say so. Let’s just make sure our assessment is based on history, facts, people skills, and past performance.

I’ve never agreed with the few vocal residents who labeled Crotonblog as an unfair, partisan “chatroom.” It’s gratifying to see that the new Republican party officials apparently no longer agree with them either.
