CHEF's Dine-A-Round Sells Out, Raises Over $10k to Support Croton-Harmon Schools

February 6, 2008

The third annual CHEF Dine-A-Round event, held on Saturday, February 2, 2008, kicked-off at 6:00 PM with appetizers at the elegant home of Molly and Carl Folta. The Folta home was warm and inviting and the evening got off to a great start. Guests mingled while listening to the talented Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School string musicians, directed by Sara Worden.

At 8:00 PM, guests divided up for dinner at 13 different homes around town. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly while catching up with old friends and meeting new friends along the way.

After dinner, dessert and dancing was at the stunning home of Joe Slakas and Barbara Hart. Guests indulged in sumptuous desserts while dancing to the wonderful sounds of the Mike Risko Music School House Band, one of Westchester’s hottest bands. The band played everyone’s favorite dance and rock tunes late into the evening.

Gem Mitchell, CHEF’s President, said, “I am delighted to see everyone out having such a wonderful evening while contributing to our schools. This evening would not be possible without the support of so many special hosts and hostesses. I am very grateful for their participation.”

CHEF organizers urge residents to mark their calendars now for the next big CHEF fundraiser. The Under The Stars Dinner Dance will be back at Croton Point Park on May 10, 2008—you won’t want to miss this wonderful opportunity to support your local schools.

If you have a program idea—please share it with CHEF. Applications can be filled out by parents, teachers, students, and members of the Croton community. Applications for the next grant cycle will be due May 1, 2008, with grants awarded June 30. The Croton-Harmon Education Foundation has been in existence for over eight years. Through the generous support of the Croton community, CHEF has provided over $367,000 for a variety of initiatives, many of which give students unique educational experiences that go beyond the scope of traditional classroom learning.
