Longtime Croton resident Jeff Thornton is showing several of his most recent paintings at Grouchy Gabe’s Grill at 8 Old Post Road South (map). Grouchy Gabe’s was recently the subject of an article titled, “Curator? No, the Deli Man,” in The New York Times, which focused on how art is showing up lately in new and unusual venues.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to have a wide audience see my work,” says Thornton, who recently had a show at the Jennifer Rutheny Gallery, also in Croton. “So many people come in to Grouchy Gabe’s on a regular basis, and it’s a great place to meet friends.”
There will be an artist reception on Saturday, March 1st, 2008, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, and the paintings will remain on view throughout the month of March.
Thornton, a landscape painter for the past 25 years, has expanded his work to include cityscapes and lush still lifes. He lives in Croton with his wife and three children. To see more of Jeff’s artwork, please visit his website at www.jeffthorntonfineart.com.
