Garden Road Students 'Biked' for China Earthquake Relief

To the editor:
On Sunday, June 1, the Garden Road School’s kindergarten/first grade class held a bicycle fundraiser for victims of the earthquake in China. Following a two-mile ride along the North County Trailway, the students sold lemonade they had hand-squeezed earlier. Proceeds of over $200 from pledges and lemonade sales will be donated to The American Red Cross.
Through the lens of China’s tragedy, the students have explored both how to cope with dangerous situations that arise in their own lives, and how they can contribute as world citizens.
For information on the Garden Road School, located in Crompond, NY, or its upcoming Open House on June 7th, please visit www.thegardenroad.org or call 914-827-0451.
