To the editor:

I am starting a grassroots organization here in Croton that I call the Wave of Green. The goal of the Wave of Green is promote environmental awareness by doing our part to reduce our local environmental footprint and keep our community beautiful.

This Sunday, June 15, 2008, I will be gathering a group of people for the first annual ‘Day of Green’, which will be an event that is held quite often in the future. This Day of Green involves the community members wearing green shirts and moving through the village, picking up garbage and trash as they go. It’s symbolic in that moving together they resemble a green wave, and that the cleaning of the town is like an environmental wave washing over it.

On Sunday, we will be meeting behind the High School at 10:00 AM and then will walk through the town down to Senasqua Park for a barbecue. For additional information on the event, please call 914-271-3818.
