Editor’s note: Follows is from an email announcement made by Dr. Marjorie Castro on July 25, 2008:
This evening, our Board of Education accepted with regret Karen Ames’ resignation as Principal of Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School. Karen has accepted a leadership position in the New York City Public School System, one which will help her better balance her personal and professional responsibilities at this time. I know that you join me in wishing her well in her new position.
During her two years at CET, Karen brought many exciting new programs and initiatives, ones which we value and will continue to develop over time. We greatly appreciate all her efforts on behalf of our staff, students and parents during this time.
I want to assure you that we will be working to prepare CET for the opening of school. We will be in touch with you during August about the leadership of our special elementary school. Please know that during this period of transition, careful thought and our full attention will be focused upon making the very best decisions about the future.
