I Know the Mayor Now...

January 12, 2009

To the editor:

I am a Croton citizen who had no clue as to who my mayor was except for by name until today, January 10, 2009.

After reading a few articles and viewing several videos I realized the inappropriate manner in which the mayor treats the board members—let alone the town’s people. Other than his short temper and lack of honesty, I can tell the he does not care about anything besides making the records seem correct and his paycheck. I fear this town is in critical danger of never being able to truly communicate with its citizens (That includes all age groups from children to seniors) if the current mayor is re-elected.

Since Crotonblog is in a position to spread information, I kindly ask you to do all in your power to prevent this man from hindering our economy and disrespecting our citizens any longer.

Thank you,

As you can see elsewhere on this site, the leaders of the Republican Party are so embarrassed by the actions of their mayor that they are going after the person who had the courage to put those videos where everyone could see him. Thankfully, my son had the courage to stand up and tell the emperor that he had no clothes. Now the rest of us can tell Dr. Schmidt that he also has no sense of propriety, no sense of decency, no sense of proper public behavior, no sense of judgment, and no right to lead this Village. If one wishes to avoid public ridicule one should not act ridiculously in public.

Remember what you saw in those videos. Remember what you saw on TV Tuesday night. Come to the meetings yourself and get insulted in person. But for God’s sake, come to the polls in March and vote this bunch out of office.

Once again the Democrats have no concept of how to win when opportunity knocks.

Freedom of speech is never a distraction. It’s a hot branding iron to mark the opposition and make their flesh sizzle. Some people shouldn’t be in politics. Schmidt’s soft underbelly is his temper, and you could run anybody against his temper and win. Issues, especially issues like Harmon rezoning, ain’t gonna win anything.

Oh, well. Two more years of Schmidt.

Strategist is right on the money in predicting defeat for the Democrats in the upcoming election unless they take off the gloves and hit Schmidt hard.

The way to beat our imperial “love-Croton-or-leave-it” mayor is to run the film clips showing him in all his unbridled nastiness losing his self-control and violently berating and insulting well-intentioned citizens offering their sincere opinions.

The thirteen American colonies revolted against the domineering reign of George the Third and his oppressive tax policies. The Colonists rightly called it “taxation without representation.”

The Democrats should encourage voters to “end the reign of the domineering Greg the First.” They should run against Schmidt’s tyrannical “the-public-be-damned” attitude. We’d call it “out-of-control representation run amuck.”

Croton Democrats should run against Schmidt high-handed policies that have given us sewer taxes separated from real property taxes to make the latter look smaller. And dangerous chemicals were added to our pure Croton water—not for health reasons but to extend the useful life of aging, rusting pipes. But how about residents’ unrusted human pipes?

Unless the Democrats go all out and recognize that the objective of a political campaign is to win, not merely to score Brownie Points, Strategist will be shown to have been right. Yes, it will be another two years of the low-class behavior of Herr Doktor Burgermeister Gregory Schmidt. Some people rise above humble beginnings—but this guy is a lost cause. He’s so insensitive that even if he were the best chiropractor in the world I wouldn’t let him treat my son’s guinea pig for a nose bleed.

Did anyone catch Schmidt and Brennan’s tirades last night. I continue to hear over and over again that people do not voice their opinions at Board Meetings for fear of being yelled at by these two or rediculed by Konig

These three need to go. Our village is becoming an absolute laughing stock to the outside world.

certainly the videos show some not-very-appropriate public behavior, but, IT AINT THE SALARY that motivates these folks!

Mayor Schmidt ain’t the only one on the village board with an anger problem…

Get to know the terribly-tempered Trustee Tom Brennan in this video:

The hits keep comin’. Here’s one from a lively discussion about fixin’ the parking lot where the mayor tells Trustee Ann Gellelli that she’s not paying attention:

Boy, and she really gives it back to him.
