Beloved father and friend, John F. Grant, of Croton on Hudson, NY, died peacefully at home on February 6, 2009. He was born July 8, 1926, to Francis and Marjorie (Naudet) Grant. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a morse code operator.
John retired in 1991 after 45 dedicated years of service with NY Central Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, Contrail and MTA Metro-North Railroad as a Conductor and Training Instructor. He was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Church.
John is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Georgiana (Keogh) Grant, and brother Robert Grant (Nancy) of Simsbury, CT, and 8 children; Mary Ellen Fernandez, Teresa Cowell (Robert), Susan Dorien (James), Christine Newton (John), Michael Grant (Peggy), John Grant (Marca), Martha Harvell (Timothy), Timothy Grant (Stacey) and 18 grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by 2 sisters Joan Cowan and Marjorie Munson.
A memorial will be held Monday, February 9, 2PM-4PM and 7PM-9PM at Holy Name of Mary church, Croton on Hudson, NY. A mass celebrating John’s life will be held Tuesday, February 10, 10AM at Holy Name of Mary church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Name of Mary church.
