April 18

10:13 AM: There was a report from a resident of King Street about a strong odor of natural gas in the area. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene and subsequently notified Con Ed to report to the area to fix the leak.

4:04 PM: There was a report from a resident of Grand Street about a person in the area burning debris in their yard. Patrol responded to the scene, asked the person to extinguish the fire and advised them about the ordinance that prohibits open fires in the village.

April 20

11:40 AM: Officer on patrol questioned a group of Croton Harmon High School students who were filming with a video camera while using a toy gun as a prop. Officer told the group to stop filming and that they should get proper filming permit from the village so proper notification can be made to authorities.

April 21

12:18 PM: MTA Police requested mutual aid from Croton Police about a disorderly person on the train platform at the Croton Harmon Train Station.

Croton Police Blotter - Week of April 9th

April 9

2:43 PM: Detectives arrested a 22-year-old male resident of Croton for two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Cocaine, a felony. The man was arrested, brought to Police HQ, appeared before the judge and bail was set at $15,000. Unable to post the bail, the man was transported to the Westchester County jail. On April 11, 2007 the man returned to Village Court where bail was set to $3,000. After posting bail, the man was released and is due in court at a later date. This arrest was the result of a five-month investigation by Croton Detectives. More arrests are expected.

April 12

9:55 AM: There was a report of smoke coming from the pump house on Arrowcrest Drive. Patrol, Croton Fire department and Water Department responded to the scene to investigate the call.

10:00 AM: There was a report a fire alarm activation at a residence on Albany Post Road. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene to investigate.

3:24 PM: There was a report from the Croton Recreation Department that graffiti was recently applied on its storage building at Black Rock Park.

April 5

8:45 AM: Patrol responded to a complaint at the Croton Harmon train station parking lot where two people were placing fliers on car windshields. After their subsequent arrival on the scene, police advised the persons in question to remove the fliers, which they did.

April 6

3:24 AM: There was a report from a resident of Bari Manor about damages to his car while it was parked in the complex lot.

4:02 PM: There was a report from a resident of Scarsdale that while his car was parked in the ShopRite parking lot on South Riverside Avenue, two parking light lenses were stolen from the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

March 27

3:39 PM: There was a report from a resident of Alexander Lane about an injured deer on her property. Patrol responded to the scene, destroyed the animal and subsequently notified Croton DPW to pick up the remains.

5:32 PM: There was a report from a resident of Penfield Avenue about a sick raccoon on her property. Patrol responded to the scene, destroyed the animal and subsequently notified Croton DPW to pick up the remains.

Croton Police Blotter - Week of March 19th

7:49 PM: There was a report from a resident of Darby Avenue about a gas odor in the area. Patrol responded to the scene to investigate and shortly thereafter Con Edison arrived to fix the problem.

March 22

1:08 AM: Officer on patrol arrested a 19-year-old female Croton resident for making graffiti, possession of graffiti instrument and criminal mischief. The woman was brought to Police HQ, processed and later released to a family member. She is due in Village Court on March 28, 2007 at 9:30.

March 23

10:19 AM: There was a report from an employee at Croton Exxon on South Riverside Avenue that there was a spill of gasoline that resulted from a drive-off larceny of gasoline. The matter is under investigation.

8:10 PM: There was a report of some flyers that were placed on cars at the Croton Harmon train station parking lot for an Oriental escort service. The matter is under investigation.

5:40 PM: Officer on patrol discovered the application of additional graffiti to the concrete retaining wall net to the Quaker Bridge. The matter is under investigation.

March 14

1:01 AM: There was a report of a disturbance of a train that originated in New York City. Patrol responded to the scene and found that two people were engaged in an argument that ended when police arrived.

6:34 PM: There was a report of a house fire on Van Wyck Street. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.

Croton Police Blotter - Week of March 5th

6:14 PM: County Fire Control requested mutual aid for a structure fire in Buchannan, New York.

March 6

4:47 PM: There was a report from an employee at Oil City that someone had stolen some paperwork from the premises. The matter is under investigation.

6:29 PM: There was a report from a resident of Sunset Trail about a possible chimney fire at her home. Patrol and Croton Fire Department responded to the scene to assist the caller.

7:21 PM: There was a report from a manager at Shop Rite Supermarket that they had a shoplifter in custody. Patrol responded to the scene and arrested a 37-tear-old female resident of Ossining with Pettit Larceny. Police took the woman to police HQ where she was later released on $200.00 bail and is due in Village Court on March 14, 2007 at 9:30 AM.

Croton Police Blotter - Week of Febuary 26th

2:20 PM: A resident of Cortlandt Manor reported that he was assaulted by a Village of Croton-on-Hudson Water Department employee in the area of Municipal Place and South Riverside Avenue. The victim, a plumber, was struck on the arm with a metal locating device during a dispute. The matter is under investigation.

5:17 PM: There was a report of an explosion and a fire under the Half Moon Bay bridge. Patrol, Croton Fire Department and the MTA Fire Brigade responded to the scene and determined that a third rail power line shorted and caused the explosion and subsequent fire in a track area.

12:56 PM: There was a report from a resident of Quaker Ridge Road that he locked himself out of his vehicle while the engine was running. Patrol responded to the scene and assisted the man in gain access to his car.

4:36 PM: County Fire Control request assistance from the Croton Fire Department for some down wires on Croton Avenue. Croton FD responded to the scene and safe guarded the area until Con Edison arrived to fix the wires.

6:15 PM: County Fire Control request assistance from the Croton Fire Department for a structure fire on Yale Avenue in Ossining.

10:01 PM: There was a report from a resident of Olcott Avenue about an altercation between some teenagers near Maple Street. Patrol responded to the scene and had the parties involved leave the area.

February 14

7:15 AM: There was a report from a truck driver in the CVS parking lot that he left his keys inside his running vehicle. Patrol responded to the scene and assisted the driver in gaining access to the truck.

8:51 PM: There was a report from a resident of Palmer Avenue who left her keys inside her car. Patrol responded to the scene and assisted the driver in gaining access to the vehicle.

6:03 PM: There was a report from a resident of Maple Street that a snow plow going by her house “kicked up” some ice that subsequently broke three of her windows.
