On Wednesday, August 17, 2005, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, head down to Silver Lake Park for the 1st annual Sand Castle Building Contest. Croton residents of all ages are invited to participate.
The sand castles will be judged by the Silver Lake lifeguards, in four separate events by age group; 5-years-old and under, 6 to 10-years-old, 11 to 15-years-old, and 16-years-old to adult.
All castles must be completed by 5:00 PM, when the judging will begin. Prizes or awards will be given for each group. Call the Village of Croton-on-Hudson Department of Recreation at 271-3006 or visit the Village website for more information on this and other upcoming events.

Bring the family and a picnic dinner down to Silver Lake Park for a night of games and fun activities on August 3, 2005 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM for the 2nd “Family Fun Night” of Summer!
Enjoy “Luau Limbo Time”, Water Balloon Toss, (click photos to enlarge) Face Painting and a trip to the “Beachside Tattoo Parlor” (click photos to enlarge). Fee: Just your regular admission, which includes your photo ID plus the daily rate or a season pass sticker. Raindate: Thursday, August 4th, same time. Silver Lake is located at the end of Truesdale Drive. The park offers a sandy beach along the beautiful Croton River. Permits or daily fees are required for swimming. The park is open to Village Residents and School District Residents only.
Tools: Saturday's contest and skateboard demonstration was the first of its kind for the skatepark. Croton riders included Kyra, Max, Lou, David, Lucas, Ross, John, & Matt. Additionally, there were five other winners from the 14 & under and 15 and & up age divisions, who walked away with a range of awesome prizes, valued at over $800.00, that included skatebord decks, wheels, bearings, t-shirts and skateboard sneakers all generously provided by Doug and his crew from the 2nd Nature Skateboard Shop. Croton's "Back-flip Boy" Skates to Victory

The contest, sponsored by The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Department of Recreation and 2nd Nature Skateboard Shop of Sleepy Hollow, was attended by around 45 competitors and an estimated 75 spectators. According to Department of Recreation staff members, the event generated in excess of $300.00 in entrance fees.
